i'm definitely starting to think trying out for the team was one of the best things i've done. i'm finally feeling like things are starting to be how they're supposed to be.

Warded Against Homophobes and Corrie Pye
i have been talking to several people about starting a Gay-Straight Student Alliance here at Hogwarts. we're still doing some research, but given the recent spat of homophobic remarks towards fellow students, i thought i would see how many people would be willing to join. essentially the concept is to make a place where people can feel comfortable and safe expressing their sexuality and their views, as well as to promote education and awareness of the issues gay and lesbian students face. did you know a gay or lesbian teen is four times more likely to commit suicide than a straight teen? comments other students make may seem harmless or be blown off by people in authority, but in reality they send a big message and have a large impact, showing what is acceptable as a norm in our school.
the alliance would be open to friends and family as well, of course, anyone who wants to see hogwarts become a more accepting and welcoming place.

it's interesting to me to note that when slytherin loses there is an expectation that somehow the entire school should be celebrating the "victory" over their team when in reality all of the houses should be considered rivals. i know that i, personally, don't feel that there is any particular team that is the "universal enemy" and frankly, i think that indicating such, no matter how much or how little "smack" is talked between players is an indication in itself, of poor sportsmanship.
perhaps i'm just naive, however it seems to me there's an awful lot of smack talking that goes on at this school when it comes to the teams. i hear so much hufflepuff is the best, gryffindor is the best, me me me, i i i. one would almost think that some of the other teams or players don't even exist. watch, observe, draw conclusions, make an independent choice. be considerate of your classmates and fellow players.
what happened to playing for the love of the sport? for having fun and it being a good time? for bringing it on the pitch and leaving it on the pitch?
yes there is a winner but every single time there is also a loser.
everyone's shite smells. sometime you're going to be the loser, so remember that when you're having a party and expecting everyone in the school to support your team just because you beat the "universal rival".

apparently everyone handles stress differently.
i've been thinking about that alot lately because of my counseling sessions and i just have to say, i think more people need to find positive ways to deal with their stress, because people seem to be not dealing with it in a very positive manner.
i hate this school.

thank you to everyone that helped make my birthday special. i wasn't sure how it would be this year without bruce but it was alright. i missed him though.
i loved the flowers and cake and the pressies. you guys are the best.
and i have a date to the dance!!!
i'm sixteen now. so weird, only one more year and i'm of age.
and hogsmeade weekend was brilliant.

so I learned the lake is really freaking cold in september. and thank god parker taught me to swim better because my wet jeans really weighed me down. jumping in fully clothed seemed like a good idea at the time. warmer, right??
it was fun though. the best part was zara's face when i pulled her in. no way was she chickening out on me.
it was kind of.. nice.
i kind of wonder if maybe she sort of might feel the same way i do about things. sometimes i catch her looking at me and it seems familiar and scary and i am starting to wonder if maybe i've found a girl i like who might like me back. it's different than with charlotte or asha. it's less of a crush and more of a ... i like this person.
